Cars, boom in used vehicles among the forecasts for the coming year

If, starting November 29th, all newly approved light vehicles will be required to comply with Euro 7 standards, and starting November 29th, 2027, all newly registered light vehicles will also be required, to ensure engine reliability, their characteristics will need to be adapted to the mission profiles of the various vehicles. Diesel, for example, will continue to be the most suitable engine for continuous use at medium and full load, but could cause problems if used in other situations, particularly for spot operations that prevent the engine from thermally regulating the aftertreatment system.

For short-distance travel, however, petrol engines will be the most suitable due to their higher operating temperatures. In any case, however, these engines will be burdened by lower performance and higher fuel consumption compared to current units.

All this while also accepting the idea that Euro 7 vehicles will cost more than Euro 6 models of the same class and performance. We can therefore expect a boom in used vehicles, especially those with guaranteed, high-quality vehicles, a decline in new vehicle sales, and a progressive aging of the vehicle fleet. It should be noted that the Euro 7 regulation for heavy trucks, vans, and trailers will be implemented in phases. The dates may vary slightly depending on the vehicle category or country, but generally speaking, the new Euro 7 regulations will apply to new type approvals for heavy vehicles starting May 29, 2028, while for all newly registered vehicles, the Euro 7 limits will come into force starting May 29, 2029.
