Mercedes-Benz is launching the second generation of its “eActros 400” electric trucks. It draws on the characteristics of the “eActros 600” model, the German manufacturer’s flagship for medium- and long-haul transport

The new offering from the three-pointed star is based on the same battery technology, and significant improvements have been made to the chassis configuration, including the electric axle common to all Mercedes-Benz electric trucks. The new “eActros 400” is equipped with two 207-kilowatt-hour battery packs based on lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) technology.
These lithium-ion batteries use iron and phosphate instead of cobalt and nickel for the cathode. The combined output of these two batteries thus reaches 414 kilowatt-hours, hence the model’s designation, compared to over 600 kilowatt-hours for the larger model, which has three batteries. The elimination of one battery has allowed the maximum load capacity on the fifth wheel to be increased, bringing it to just under ten tons
